My name is Rafael and I’m a Salsa DJ and I have performed in several important events around Tokyo since moving to Japan in October 2008. In addition I have also been teaching Salsa to the English seeking community.
I am one of the organizers of SALSA INTERNATIONAL organising Salsa dancing events bringing together well known instructors and performers from Japan.
For six years before moving to Japan I was performing in Australia and New Zealand where the dancers granted me the title “EL SENOR DE LA SALSA” for the ability to keep a Salsa crowd dancing all night with my wide repertoire of songs.
During my childhood in my homeland Ecuador I was lucky to have experienced the big salsa music phenomenon "La Fania all stars ". There I have started my large collection of Salsa music and since my teenage years I visited dancing schools around the world like in Colombia, Germany, Switzerland, Cuba and Australia. The different styles of Salsa I experienced over the years help me to create an unforgettable music experience today
DJ Rafael: “To me DJ’ing is like cooking for a mix of people with different tastes, where you have to offer several dishes, for each individual a favourite whilst allowing others to have a try so everyone will be satisfied at the end”
